Singapore Judicial College, Judgment Writing Seminars

Since 2024, the NJI has collaborated with the Singapore Judicial College to support judicial education in judgment writing. Through this partnership, the NJI has delivered programs for judges and judicial leaders that combine practical instruction, small-group coaching, peer discussion, and individualized feedback on written decisions.

The training focuses on aiding judges to write decisions that are clear, well-structured, accessible, and grounded in sound legal reasoning. This is in addition to supporting coaching and mentoring approaches that strengthen writing skills across the judiciary.

By sharing Canadian expertise and learning from Singapore’s experience, this collaboration supports judicial excellence, professional development, and public confidence in the rule of law. The first Judgment Writing Clinic was successfully delivered in 2024, and planning is currently underway to deliver a second engagement in 2026. The NJI looks forward to continuing to build on this important international partnership.
